Community Support
I haven't been keeping up with the event reviews, so here is a brief review of each of the most recent events:
Car Show
There is only one way to describe the Car Show that took place on July 7th at Lambert Hall in Bellefonte . . . AMAZING! During all of the planning leading up to the event we never dreamed that DJ would actually be in attendance at this event! His arrival and presence added to an already glorious day for our group! We were so impressed by the participation by the local community . . . not only participants in the car show, but also spectators, donors, and volunteers! Miles and Ducky . . . thank you so much guys! All of your hard work and efforts were appreciated by EVERYONE!!!!
Benefit Concert
Our most favorite State College musician, Shawn Selby, pulled off an awesome night full of music and fun! Shawn had contacted us shortly after DJ's injury. He had heard about DJ's situation and wanted to do something to help! With the help of his lovely wife Jackie, some friends, his band Serious Intent and the band Trixie Neptune, Shawn organized a benefit concert that was held at the Days Inn in State College on June 15th. This event allowed us to reach out to different crowd of supporters and bring awareness of DJ's situation to another audience! Shawn's already planning another concert for the fall! We hope it will be another successful event!
Ham Pot Pie and Spaghetti Dinners Huge Successes!
Over the past two weekends there have been two wonderful fundraising events for DJ held in Bellefonte! A lot of money was raised to help DJ and his family.
The Bellefonte VFW and Lady's Auxiliary held a Ham Pot Pie Dinner last Saturday! The Ham Pot Pie was delicious! The group believes they served approximately 300 people that day! It was great to see such a large turn out from the community!
Yesterday the Bellefonte Knights of Columbus held an All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner for DJ. With the help of a number of DJ supporters, we were able to get all of the food donated and turn a total profit! The event started slow, but picked up around dinner time! Channel 10 was even there!
Thank you all for your continued support! We hope to continue to have dinners and other fundraising events for DJ and his family. At this time there is very little that we can do to help this brave hero other than raise money. The support of the community has been amazing!
